This movie is set into the future where people are separated into 5 different groups. If you don't fit into any of those 5 groups you are divergent. Tris is divergent and has to act like a dauntless which is the group she chose to be in. She meets a man named Four who also is divergent. I recommend this movie for people who like action packed movies. :)

Those five different books are factions and if you get more than one faction on your aptitude you are Divergent. However, Allegiant tells us that if you are 'Divergent' you are a GP which means you are genetically pure and not a GD which is a genetically damaged person. The factions were created long ago as an experiment to resolve the bad qualities of others which had resulted in the Purity War. The Purity War was a war against GDs and GPs and practically ripped the world apart. When the country was still the United States, the leaders blamed several characteristics of human beings such as: dishonesty, ignorance, chaos, selfishness, and cowardice. They injected people with a serum to heal them, but it just created more problems. The Bureau of Genetic Welfare sent people into the different city experiments to see how they would react and see if their genes were healed. This causes some confusion in Allegiant (the Allegiant are the people who want factions) because Tris now faces information that tells her that her friends are the way they are because they are genetically damaged. Tris' genes are pure and healed which is why her attributes are Erudite, Abnegation, and Dauntless. She doesn't have to 'act', per say, like a Dauntless. Tris was always brave and selfless but kept that part of herself hidden in Abnegation. Tobias Eaton is NOT Divergent. He did NOT inherit his father, Marcus Eaton's Divergence. "Four" was a nickname given to Tobias by his teacher, Amar because he had four fears.: claustrophobia, fear of heights, shooting an innocent, and Marcus. Fears change in time and Tobias' fear of Marcus had changed. Instead of getting beaten up by Marcus, Tobias was Marcus in the fear landscape. He always feared that he would end up cruel like his father. Shooting the woman eventually became shooting Tris. Amar was also Divergent was genetically pure. Once again, Tobias is NOT DIVERGENT but has the qualities of a Divergent without actually being one. Tris and Tobias have a gene test in Allegiant and the discovery causes some rift between the two. I'm probably giving too much away, but I wish you would read the books.
