Albert Kinney is just your average kid, trying to earn a place on his school's soccer team. But it turns out that, to aliens, he is pretty much a celebrity. And now, Albert is going to play soccer with a bunch of aliens in order to inspire their planet. Will he, an average kid, be able to lead his team to victory? Well, when aliens play soccer, pretty much anything can happen. There was action in the book, but I found it hard to get into at first. Other than that, I think the author had a pretty cool idea for this book and enjoyed the concept of aliens playing soccer. (Albeit a little differently).

Aiden and Ava are twins who have at least one thing in common: they love soccer. And in the midst of their final games, they learn about the mysterious theft of a soccer trophy over forty years ago! So along with their friend Daniel, they delve into the perplexing circumstances surrounding the theft. But one question continues to baffle them. Why would anyone want to steal a kid's soccer trophy? This story was pretty cool, and actually included some history about the actual theft of the world cup. It was also a nice story about family, and how not everybody is perfect.

Four kids are enlisted by mysterious Mr. Benedict to go undercover at a strange school in order to prevent the world from being controlled by a sinister man. Reynie Richards is a natural leader and excellent at putting together clues and solving mysteries. Sticky (George) Washington has photographic memory and a seemingly infinite amount of knowledge in his head. Kate Wetherall may not be a genius, but she is always prepared with her supply-stocked red bucket, and her surprising agility and strength. And while it may seem like Constance Contraire's only talents are stubbornness, grumpiness, and the ability to come up with insulting poems, Mr. Benedict is certain that Constance is a vital team member as well. So the four unusual children pack their bags and start their dangerous, and possibly deadly, undercover mission, knowing that they may be the world's last hope. And just like that, the Mysterious Benedict Society is born.

This is the story of a girl named Hope, a girl whose mother left her with only two things: her flair for waitressing and her name, Tulip. But how her mother could ever look at a wrinkled little baby and think Tulip is beyond her. Not that any of that matters. She changed her name to Hope and is leaving with her aunt to Wisconsin, to work in a restaurant. Soon Hope gets caught up in the happenings of their small town, making friends, and realizing that good triumphs the bad. And when things get bad, people can always use a little Hope.

I loved this book! It was heartwarming and a powerful reminder of the tragedies of the Vietnam war, and the realness of what it was like to be a Cambodian refugee in America. The story shows the struggles of Sundara, a Cambodian girl who had to flee with her uncle and aunt's family to escape the tragedies of the Vietnam war. Now living a new life in America, Sundara is trying to be a proper Cambodian girl and push away the grief of her lost family and the child that died in her arms. And one day against all odds, Sundara falls in love with an American boy, and she wonders how she will ever be able to follow the Cambodian way of waiting for an arranged marriage when she feels so powerfully drawn to him. Sundara has little hope for a happy ending, but she's willing to try and get one, even if it means going against her family's age-old customs. And even in the midst of war, there is joy and good news on the horizon.
