maddyp18's book review was featured in The School for Good and Evil.
Welcome to Gavaldon, a seemingly ordinary village surrounded on all sides by woods. But there is one part about this village that is out of the ordinary. Every four years, on the eleventh night of the eleventh month, two children are taken from their beds and spirited away. They are taken to the School for Good and Evil, where good children train at the School for Good to become princes and princesses, and where evil children train at the School for Evil to become villains and witches. One of the children is always kind and beautiful, while the other child is always ugly and odd. Sophie and Agatha are best friends, and they seem like the perfect pair to be taken this year. Sophie is the perfect candidate for Good, for she is 'kind' and beautiful, while Agatha is odd and ugly. But, when these two friends reach the school, Agatha is taken to Good, and Sophie is taken to Evil. Did the School Master make a terrible mistake... or was he right all along? In this entertaining story, Sophie and Agatha learn about love, hard work, friendship, and what it truly means to be good or evil. I loved, loved, loved, LOVED it, and once I started reading it I could never put it down. This is a great book to teach kids about staying true to themselves, and it has a great twist to the fairy tale stories that we all know and love. I highly recommend this to older elementary and middle school kids. Enjoy!Over 6 years agomaddyp18 added a book review.

Over 6 years agomaddyp18's book review was featured in Aru Shah and the End of Time (A Pandava Novel Book 1) (Pandava Series).
Although Aru Shah goes to a private middle school, she doesn't fit in with all of her snobby rich classmates. Instead of flying to a far away vacation home for break, Aru is spending her break at the Museum of Ancient Indian Art and Culture, which her mom curates. As an attempt to fit in, Aru constantly tells lies to impress people, about the clothes she wears, or where she is going for vacation. When three of Aru's classmates arrive at the museum to catch her in a lie about the cursed Lamp of Bharata, Aru had to either light the lamp, or face humiliation in front of her entire school. So she lights the lamp. But lighting the lamp unleashes the Sleeper, a demon who is determined to end all time. In order to stop the world from ending, Aru, her sister Mini, and a talking pigeon named Boo have to go on a wild journey through the Kingdom of Death. Will these heroes stop the Sleeper, or will everything they know and love disappear? Read this inspirational book to find out. I really enjoyed this book, and I would recommend it to older elementary school age kids. This book has a great twist on Hindu mythology, and you learn a lot while reading it. It also conveys great themes, about friendship and makng the right choices. If you want to read an exciting and interesting fantasy story, this is the book for you!Over 6 years agomaddyp18 added a book review.

Over 6 years agomaddyp18's book review was featured in The Serpent's Secret (Kiranmala and the Kingdom Beyond #1).
Besides her 'superstitious' parents, Kiranmala thinks she's an ordinary girl with an ordinary life. But then, on Kiran's twelve birthday, her whole life is turned upside down. A rakkhosh (an Indian monster) abducts Kieran's parents, and she and two fairy-tale princes must rescue them. Kiran and the princes set off on a wild adventure, through different dimensions and across strange lands. Will Kiran save her parents and herself, or will she land in the clutches of the evil Serpent King? Read this amazing book to find out. I loved this book, and I think it's a great read for older elementary school and middle school kids. It is an amazing adventure story, and if you like the Percy Jackson books you'll love this, too. This book has the perfect mix of funny, remarkable, and irresistible. Once you start reading it you just can't put it down!Almost 7 years agomaddyp18 added a book review.

Almost 7 years agomaddyp18's book review was featured in Monster High/Ever After High: The Legend of Shadow High.
Have you ever read Ever After High? What about Monster High? If you've read and loved those books you NEED to get The Legend of Shadow High. The Legend of Shadow High is a mix of Ever After High and Monster High, and you'll love it just as much or more than you loved the other two. When the Evil Queen escapes her mirror prison and starts to investigate a mysterious place called Shadow High, kids from Monster High and Ever After High must work together to stop the Evil Queen before it's too late. The Evil Queen is in over her head, and she doesn't realize what will happen to the World of Stories if she joins all the different lands together. Will Draculaura, Frankie Stein, Raven Queen, and Apple White be able to stop the Queen before it's too late or will their world crumble to pieces? I really enjoyed this book, and it's a great fantasy read for younger elementary school kids. One unique thing I really enjoyed about this book was how it was written like it was being narrarated by another character in the story (Brooke Page) and how Brooke could 'talk' to you at the bottom of the page in the margins. I recommend to read Ever After High and Monster High before you read this though, so that everything makes sense. All in all, you will love the memorable characters in this book, and you won't be able to put this book down until you've finished it. I hope you enjoy!About 7 years ago
